Singing  teacher (30 years) Music Coordinator Echuca Moama Winter Blues Festival 2008, 2009, 2010, & 2011. Facilitator of Blues Boot Camp at Echuca Moama Winter Blues 2009 – 2017 and Blues Boot Camp Bellarine for the last ten years. He is the facilitator of the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society – Youth in Blues program (2014 - 2019). During his 30 years of performing and touring while based in Sydney he gained experience as a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and vocal   teacher while working with some of Australia’s best known

musicians and producers.

Hammond Organ specialist, Saxophone, piano/keyboards, accordion, flute, and guitar. He was educated at Geelong College and the Victorian College of the Arts (Dip.Arts in Music), Diploma of Multimedia (A.B.D.C.) Certificate IV Small Business.

He has recorded over 40 CD’s and countless sessions for both Australian and International artists. Tim has taught at several music schools in Melbourne and Geelong including the Gordon institute.

Currently teaches music at Geelong Grammar School. Tim has played with a multitude of international and Australian acts and worked in every area of the music industry that you can think of including music master-classes for the French Government.

Choir/Vocal coach, guitar and ukulele. Sarah is an original singer/songwriter, known for her work with many Australian groups including mentoring new artists. She loves country, but has rhythm and blues in her heart!

Her music reverberates with her wide and various influences, be it touring the USA, or performing in Australia with local or international artists. She teaches ukulele and guitar all ages around the Bellarine Peninsula often performing with her students.

In 2014, Sarah was the recipient of the Ross Lipson Award, for excellence in her own career while helping others along the way. She has been a choir director and worked many years in community radio.



Sweet Felicia is Australia’s darling of the Blues. Voted Blues Performer of the Year (Victoria) and Semi-Finalist at the International Blues Challenge 2011 Memphis Tenn. USA. She recently undertook her third successful overseas tour through Europe. Her experience is vast, performing with Phil Manning, Jeff Lang, Lil’ Fi and The Chris Wilson Band as well as coaching and mentoring youth music programs (MBAS Youth in Blues program and Blues Boot Camp Echuca 2017). She is a passionate Singer, Bassist, recording artist, band leader, and manager and she knows not only how to win over any audience but also what it takes to survive in the industry. She is a genuine, powerful artist and engaging mentor.


Apart from running tech, marketing, social media companies and his record label Breakneck Records, Michael moonlights as “Mr. Black and Blues” performing nationally and internationally. Michael has been an enthusiastic mentor and tutor for students during the highly successful 2014, 2015, and 2016 Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society Youth in Blues programs as well a Blues Boot camps in Bellarine 2015 and 2016, and the Echuca Winter Blues Festival Bootcamp 2016. He generously shares his knowledge of many things musical. His guitar playing was once described as rooted in the tradition of blues music but innovative and contemporary. The last few years have seen Michael win accolades such as: Australian Artist of the year, Best Australian Blues Album for “Blow these tracks – Live on The Blues Train with Chris Wilson”, and Best Australian Album for “Long road home”, by Rhythms Magazine Readers Poll.

Buddy Knox is a blues master Guitarist from Tamworth NSW armed with a Gibson 335 and a deep passion for the blues. He started playing at just ten years old, persisting on a guitar missing a string. From humble beginnings and a passion for guitar, Buddy perfected his ability to an outstanding standard spanning nearly three decades. He has toured Australia extensively playing major festivals, pubs, and clubs. Buddy is a recording artist in his own right and has also performed as lead guitarist for a multitude of other acts. He is a mentor of high standing, working with both young and older musicians. He shares a wealth of knowledge and his passion generously.

Drums, percussion. David is one of Geelong’s finest percussion educators. His passion for playing and teaching music is evident through his commitment to passing on knowledge to his students. He promotes self-confidence, satisfaction, and self-worth by encouraging students to produce their best while maintaining a high level of enjoyment.

David runs individual and group lessons and is involved in Drumania. Dave co-runs the music program at Barwon Heads Primary School and teaches in 4 other schools around the Bellarine Peninsula. He is recognized by the Oxygen Music artist endorsement program and Toca percussion as a drum educator and product ambassador.




Ethan is an impressive guitarist, his playing crosses many genres including blues, jazz, and soul. As a Guitarist and singer fronting his own band he shows a remarkable display of musical prowess. In 2014, Ethan was involved as a participant, and then in subsequent years as a student mentor at Blues Boot Camps in Drysdale and Echuca. He has a strong work ethic across both musicianship and industry skills and he brings these qualities to Blues Boot Camp as a tutor. He is fast becoming a highly renowned player among his peers and elders in the Blues scene, which is why some of Australia’s most esteemed musicians have invited him onstage to perform with them on major festival stages.

Tom is a multi-instrumentalist, specialising in bass guitar and piano/keyboards and performs with a range of artists and bands in Victoria. Tom has been a mentor at previous Blues Boot Camps, at the Potato Shed and the Echuca Winter Blues Festival, and the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society ‘Youth in Blues’ program. He has assisted with the delivery of music programs in schools.

Tom is qualified with, Certificate IVs in Music Performance and Sound Production. His performing experience combined his knowledge of Blues music and understanding of the practicalities and complexities of working with other musicians in a live environment make him a welcome addition to Blues Boot Camp tutors.

wears many hats. She began as Director of the Tides of Welcome Choir in September 2014. As a Classroom music teacher she worked at St Leonards Primary School  and Barwon Heads Primary School. Andrea was the recipient of the QMF Ross Lipson Award 2016 for services to the Bellarine local music community. She was shortlisted for the Australian Songwriters Association Inc. (ASA) National Songwriting Competition – 2016. With her husband Dave she is Co-Founder/Director of Ocean Grove Acoustic Sessions – since January 2016. She achieved ANZCA Grade 8 Modern Singing Honours – 2013. Apart from her solo and band live performances she has released several recordings and also teaches piano and singing privately.




Benjamin Theolonius Sanders (a.k.a. IQ) is an intercontinental poetry slam champion, educator, publisher, producer, and cultural ambassador. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, now living in Geelong, IQ is a multi-slam champion and 6-time (2002-2008) MC of the Memphis Music and Heritage Festival. 2012 saw him become an official member of the Beale St. Hall of Fame as Poet Laureate of ‘Freeworld,’ - a legendary Memphis jam band. Author of seven chapbooks and producer of three poetry/spoken word albums, including the landmark Melbourne spoken word anthology ‘A Pint for Your Mind’. IQ was formerly Youth Ambassador and Community Liaison for the Melbourne Poets Union. He is also a Café Poet, Slam poetry curator and teaching artist and Convener of The Aus Underground Slam in Melbourne.

The Melbourne born roots writer and multi-instrumentalist has musically, seen and done more than most. Besides spreading previously little-known musical sounds across Australia in the late ‘70’s, 80’s and into the 90’s the list of blues and roots legends that Andy has played with is beyond impressive.

Andy is truly one of the architects of the current “roots /blues” trend in Australian popular music and continues to be an inspiration to many younger artists. His musical knowledge of the guitar, across a range of genres is outstanding. Andy is considered an Australian music icon by many in the industry.

Bob has been a part of the Australian music scene for more years than he cares to remember. Bob joined Sydney rock outfit Finch in 1972. Finch won the Pepsi Battle of the Bands in 1974. 1977 saw Bob joining The Skyhooks. Several albums later, in 1980, Skyhooks folded. Around this time began Bob's involvement with audio engineering & production, a passion which remains today. Bob stepped in to The Angels in 1985. His time with them produced three studio albums, including Number 1 album (Beyond Salvation), many tours & much time in America. All Bob's albums with Skyhooks & The Angels have been certified either Platinum or Gold. In 1998 he received an ARIA Lifetime Achievement Award & was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame. He is currently the director of Greater Groove Music being a guitar tutor & band coach, giving Master classes & Clinics.

Sandy Brady – (Bass and stringed instruments) Advanced Certificate in Music Performance (Jazz & Popular) in 1997. 2008 completed her Advanced Diploma in Music Performance.

Sandy has toured both nationally and internationally and has performed at many major music festivals.  She worked part-time as FReeZA Event Coordinator for the Courthouse Youth Arts Centre.  (State Government funded initiative which assists young people between the ages of 15 to 25 establish a career in the music industry)

Currently Sandy is the Program Administrator for the Port Fairy Folk Festival.

Dave Steel – (Guitar, Slide Guitar, Mandolin) is a veteran of the Australian music scene. (Four years with Weddings, Parties, Anything and seven years with Archie Roach).  He has released eight solo albums, and has been nominated for several ARIA awards. He has travelled extensively in Australia, Europe, Asia, and North America as a performer.

The release of ‘Blues and Ballads’ is a welcome return to solo acoustic mode for Dave. ‘Blues and Ballads’ is a deceptively simple acoustic recording which amply displays Dave’s instrumental and vocal talents and demonstrates the links between his own music and that of classic blues artists.



Jimi Hocking is a songwriter, singer, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist of the highest calibre. He has toured the U.S, UK and Europe, has won numerous awards and accolades as a performer, producer and teacher.

His playing has left an impression on many guitarists including BB King Joe Satriani, Edgar Winter, and George Thorogood, all with whom Jimi toured.

The Angels asked Jimi to join the band on their 'Live Line' concert tour. In the mid-1990's he joined The Screaming Jets and played on two gold records.

Jimi has also written music for film and TV, and recorded and played for many other artists in a career now spanning 25 years.



is an award-winning and captivating young singer-songwriter and drummer who expresses pure feeling through storytelling. His debut album features his powerful yet gentle, deep voice and strong, rhythmic guitar. He grew up in a professional musical family, learning not only how to play and perform but also the ‘ins and outs’ of the music industry through the experience of his parents. In his own right, Fenn now performs at festivals, bars, and venues around Victoria and never fails to hold his audience spellbound. He is also a sought after drummer and can be seen accompanying father Chris Wilson at shows. Fenn’s addition to the Blues Boot Camp Tutors adds youthful experience beyond his years.



Vocal specialist. Kelly delivers inspiring shows with her earthy and powerful style of singing. She teaches singing and stage-craft to all ages in education centres, schools and privately.

Kelly is known for her successful work with young people who want to develop confidence; as well as comfortable, safe singing techniques. Trained classically and in the Jo Estille figures for voice model, Kelly delivers her singing workshops in an engaging but fun and relaxed manner.

She also developed and ran a highly successful program called ”Noisy Girls” over several years for disadvantaged young women for the Thornbury Women’s Neighbourhood  house and Preston and Reservoir Adult Community Education centres.

Anna Scionti

Anna Scionti (pronounced Shon-tee) is a Melbourne-based blues artist mixing it up on cigar box guitar, resonator, lap steel and six-string guitar. Her driving sound and style of urban blues and eclectic steel slide will take you deep in to her world of emotionally charged, electrified blues.

Her 2017 self-titled EP debuted at No.2 on the Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Charts. Anna is an accomplished songwriter, singer, performer and recording artist as well as a great communicator. We welcome Anna Scionti to the Blues Boot Camp team.
