Bendigo is a 2 day program.  Bellarine is a 3 day program.

DAY 1. Tuesday January 7, 2020

Participants to arrive by 9.00 am. Prepare instruments, get seated in venue.

9.15 am. Tutor Introductions. Briefing and outline of the Blues Boot Camp.

OH&S instructions. Brief students on methods and outcomes for Blues Boot camp.

9.30 am. Ice breaker – Pass the beat. Circle of sound with all participants and tutors.

9.40 am. A brief history of blues music and the origins of music, call, and response, blues lyrics, self-expression, spoken word.

10.00 am. Discuss chord progressions in blues and contemporary music.

Entire ensemble and Tutors - Writing an original composition using the 1, 4, 5 chord progression. Singers – Lyrics/melody.

10.45 am. Morning break (15 min)

11.00 am Tutor ensemble groups - Andrea, Tim, Dave, Anna, Ethan, and Wayne - choosing teams and working on songs for performance. Practice sessions with tutor mentors.
12.00 noon. Workshops - Song writing, including lyrics and basic chord structures with substitutions. Ethan, Anna, Tim, Wayne, and Andrea.

12.45 pm Lunch

1.30 pm. Practice sessions with tutor mentors working on song list and groups for performance.

2.30 pm. ‘Social Media and Marketing’ workshop.

2.45 pm. Supervised practice sessions. Various groups/locations. Preparing for performance with Tutors. Performance skills and Stagecraft.

4.45 pm. Group discussion of the days’ work. Outcomes, plan work for Day 2.

5.00 pm. Finish.


DAY 2. Wednesday January 8, 2020

Participants to arrive by 9.00 am.

9.15 am. Group get together – Revise yesterday’s work, questions, requests from participants.

9.30 am. Percussion Workshop. Dave Robertson. Choir/Vocal Workshop – Andrea and Wayne. All students

10.45 am. Morning break (15 min)

11.00 am. Relocate to practice rooms for supervised rehearsals with performance groups.

12.30 pm. Lunch

1.15 pm. Blues Boot Camp Games. Equipment Olympics. Including OH&S.

1.45 pm. Final practice sessions. All ensembles and performance groups.

2.45 pm. Entire performance rehearsal (Main stage). All participants all tutors.

4.45 pm. Group discussion of performance format, presentation for performance.

5.00 pm. finish.


DAY 3. Thursday January 9, 2020

Arrive at venue the Potato Shed by 4.00 pm. for sound check and rehearsal.

7.00 pm. Performance to public audience, parents and relatives by entire ensemble and various groups (duos, trios, quartets etc.) that formed over the duration of Boot camp.

Show finishes at approximately 9.00 pm.
